Rainout keeps Red Sox MLB win streak at 14 with two games Wednesday
The Boston Red Sox remained one win shy of matching their team-record longest win streak, set in 1946, after their Major League Baseball game against Baltimore was rained out on Tuesday.
The Red Sox have won 14 games in a row, the longest win streak in the current MLB campaign, and will try to match and break their 15-game record run from 80 years ago in what will now be two games on Wednesday.
The Red Sox-Orioles matchup planned on Tuesday at Fenway Park was postponed because of heavy rains and thunderstorms in the Boston area.
The American League East division rivals will meet in an afternoon contest on Wednesday ahead of a regularly scheduled game on Wednesday night.
The Red Sox have not lost since falling 10-2 at home to Washington on July 1. Since then, Boston went 3-0 against the Los Angeles Angels, Chicago White Sox and New York Mets and 4-0 against Tampa Bay before winning Monday's opener against Baltimore.
The MLB-record longest win streak was 26 games by the then-New York Giants in 1916. The longest win streak in American League history was 22 games by Cleveland in 2017.
